DUB PISTOLS TO HEADLINE FRIDAY NIGHT AT JURASSIC FIELDS + More!

Jurassic Fields are proud to announce the legendary DUB PISTOL will be headlining the main stage on Friday 13th July.

One of the hardest working bands in showbusiness, Barry Ashworth and his motley crew have added a much-needed swagger to the UK dance scene in recent years and new album ‘Crazy Diamonds’ finds the band at their uncontrollable, bass-driven best.

A rampant mix of dub, reggae, ska, punk, breaks, beats and drum ‘n’ bass, the album is a full-on dub-quaking extravaganza, built for big fields and summer sound systems. It also happens to feature some of the biggest names in the game including Dancehall dons Beenie Man and Cutty Ranks, reggae singer Earl Sixteen, hip-hop act Too Many T’s, seminal MCs Navigator and the Ragga Twins, and long-time collaborator Lindy Layton.

Proudly working class as a band, the Dub Pistols have been tearing up venues and festivals throughout their career. Inspired by the Second Summer of Love, the band were founded by ubiquitous Londoner Barry Ashworth in 1996 and have been at the forefront of beats culture ever since.

“The band’s reputation as an explosive live act has seen them turn into super-tight festival regulars, with the Dub Pistols headlining some of the biggest festivals in Europe including Glastonbury, Bestival and Beat-Herder. Their bass-driven live machine has seen them win numerous plaudits along the way and recent live guests have included vocalists Rodney P, The Specials’ Terry Hall and Neville Staple, rap wünderkid T.K., Sugardaddy horn-blower Tim Hutton & scratch maestro, DJ Stix.”
The Dub Pistols have also turned their hand to the world of remixing and have remixed the likes of Ian Brown, Moby, Limp Bizkit, Korn and Bono and worked with hiphop legend Busta Rhymes. The band’s music has been
used by Playstation and major Hollywood films.

AND THATS NOT ALL!!!

FRIDAY NIGHT BIG TOP’S HEADLINER FOR 2018 WILL BE Welsh indie-roots band RUSTY SHACKLE.

Rusty Shackle have been tearing up stages around the world since 2010. Brandishing their distinct folk-roots sound and armed with an electrifying mix of rampant fiddle, scorching electric guitars, pounding drums, searing trumpet and banjo, the band have built up a devoted fanbase with their captivating live shows.
Constantly evolving their sound, the band have released three albums over the last few years, each reaching the top 3 in the iTunes ‘Alternative Folk/Singer Songwriter’ charts. The songs are steeped in honest emotion and story telling and are born from the fires of Bruce Springsteen, Seth Lakeman, infused with the raw energy of Jack White and creativity of Tom Waits and mix it with everything in between.
Their latest album DUSK takes their music into brave new areas, introducing an edginess and immediacy to their melody-driven folk credentials. DUSK trawls through the darker stations of the world whilst never forgetting to take in the lighter stops on the line. Rusty Shackle have toured extensively around the UK, Europe and USA and are mainstays on the festival circuit. They deliver excitement every time they step onstage and give everything they have to steal your heart with their music.

“… a wonderful album that would be very much appreciated by the legendary Robert Plant.” (Bob Harris, Radio 2)

“They really have understood what contemporary folk music is about and aimed it for the big stage.” (Fatea Showcase sessions)

“They mine a vein of grubby, ball-waggling folk that Mumford & Sons would baulk at whilst supping champers” (live music scene)

AND THERE IS MORE, SOME ACTS THAT HAVE GRACED THE STAGES AT JURASSIC FIELDS IN THE PAST AND SOME NEW!

Returning to Jurassic Fields after a storming headlining performance in 2016 will be DOCTOR AND THE MEDICS. They will be taking to the main stage on Saturday daytime for all the family to experience this flamboyant show.
Dr and the Medics are celebrating their 35th Anniversary this year! The band were created in 1982 by the Rev. Dr. Clive Thomas Jackson and, last year, they also celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the song that they are best known for – their massive 1986 No 1 “Spirit in the Sky,” which sold over 23 Million copies worldwide and was number 1 in 19 countries!

Throughout their career they have always been recognised as a great live act, never more so than with the current line-up that delivers a unique and sensationally flamboyant show, packed full of “Medic’d up” 80’s hits along with a few Medic’s originals that are going down a storm at every show.

2015 saw the band return to the recording studio releasing their acclaimed version of Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round” with a great video (easily found on Youtube!)
The band also ventured into dance music in 2015 with two releases, the 29th Anniversary dance remixes of “Spirit in the Sky” and also “Lift Me Up” both reaching No. 1 in several American dance charts including the Official USA Dance Chart.

However, the band have stayed true to their rock and pop roots and they have a new album currently being recorded and due for release in 2018 – some tracks off the album will be appearing in a horror film “Howling” due out later this year, which features the Doctor in a small acting role..

The band has a very busy year ahead, their busiest on the gig front for 25 years – and we hope you can join us and see you all soon!

Think of Flight Brigade as a family as much as a seven-strong band and you start to understand the chemistry between them. Think of their songs as epic stories to which each member is essential and you begin to grasp what makes their music so powerful. Watch them perform and you can’t fail to be struck by the special bond they share.

Flight Brigade’s strength in numbers suits the scope of their songs. The grand orchestral sweeps, the crunching anthemic guitars, With male/female vocals & strings set amidst synths & heavy guitars, their explosive live show feels like it’s their last day on earth, ‘as if Arcade Fire had a face off with Fleetwood Mac and then Renaissance came in for the kill’.

Festival appearances have included Glastonbury, Bestival, Great Escape, Beautiful Days, Larmer Tree, Blissfields, Boomtown as well as Reeperbahn in Germany. In 2016 they released their debut album ‘Our Friends Our Enemies’. Named one of Time Out’s ‘Rising Stars’, radio play has included, Dan O’Connell Radio X, Steve Lamacq & Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music, Gary Crawley, BBC Introducing London, Bob Harris & Janice Long, BBC Radio 2, as well as Tom Allen, CBC Radio 2, Canada. In Germany they reached number 13 on the German college airplay charts. Their songs have been used on ‘Made In Chelsea’ and Channel 4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’. JOINING THE ALL READY ANNOUNCED SATURDAY NIGHT HEADLINERS ,THE DUALERS and TANKUS THE HENGE WILL BE TWO VERY HIGHLY RATED FOLK ACTS….3 DAFT MONKETS and NOBLE JACKS.

With Celtic and eastern influences, the 3 DAFT MONKEYS ’ dynamic style of world folk music reflects the global village in which we now live. Their infectious dancing rhythms lead you through a musical journey of the senses and emotions, and will leave you breathless, enthralled and exhilarated.
After experiencing the band’s notoriously energetic live performance at Glastonbury Festival Mark Radcliffe declared them as one of his “Highlights of the Festival” on BBC TV coverage, and subsequently invited them to play a session on his BBC Radio 2 Folk Show. The band have also performed a live session with Whispering Bob Harris on Radio 2.
Following a highly successful crowdfunding campaign in 2017, the band have released a brand new album which has received 5* reviews in both Rock n Reel and fRoots. The title track “Year of the Clown” is a social and whimsical comment on the strange and disturbing times we find ourselves in, where the ‘elected principles’ in the world circus appear to be the fools.
With their quirky and original approach to music, and their passion, intensity and sheer joy of life, 3 Daft Monkeys have gained themselves a large and loyal cult following. Their music is hard to pigeon-hole, mixing and crossing many musical genres from Celtic, Klezmer, Gypsy, Balkan, Latin, Ska, Dub Reggae, Indie, Rock and even a hint of Shostakovich. 3 Daft Monkeys have always maintained an independent and cottage-industry approach to their musical career, and have gained a huge following whilst ploughing their own furrow through the music business, gaining momentum

through their live performances and intensive European touring schedule. With a brand new 4-piece line-up, the band weave enchanting melodies with catchy choruses, virtuoso vibrant fiddle, rhythmic 12-string guitar, 6-string bass, bespoke hand-percussion and 4-part vocal harmonies. Fascinating lyrics of personal and whimsical observations on life, and folk tales both ancient and modern, are told within the swirling layers of their music, all with the essential catchy sing-along chorus. The band’s diversity is reflected in the acts for whom they have been invited as special guests, including touring across the UK and Europe with the Levellers, and opening for bands such as Hawkwind, Bellowhead, Show of Hands and Dreadzone, as well as headlining their own national tours. 3 Daft Monkeys have played at a huge number and variety of festivals in the UK, including Fairport Convention’s Cropredy, Beautiful Days, Trowbridge Village Pump, Towersey Folk Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival and Boomtown Fair. Their eclectic mix of styles has drawn them a following right across Europe, and the band have headlined festivals in Holland, Germany and France. 3 Daft Monkeys have also recently joined acrobats and circus performers in the new and vibrant boutique “busking festival” scenes of Switzerland and Italy.

“The musicianship- the virtuosity, the song craft, the arrangement- is simply astonishing “ (Spiral Earth) “Varied and stirring acoustic style.. Outstanding fiddle work” (The Guardian) “Music as joyously life-affirming as this deserves a huge audience” (West Briton) “A brilliant band… I think this is absolutely amazing” Mike Harding (BBC Radio 2) “A veritable melting pot of styles makes a
colourful carnival of sound” (fROOTS) “Their live show strikes a quality balance of spaced-out dizziness, dance-ability and sophisticated folk music.” (Bearded Theory Festival).
